Comfortable being Uncomfortable
Discomfort is inevitable!
Despite how much we plan, prepare, or try to control things, life would always place us in situations that stretch us.
The issue is that we spend so much time trying to escape that feeling.
Trying to calm ourselves down, searching for reassurance, looking for signs that everything will be okay.
And surprisingly enough, most times, nothing ever works.
Nothing prepares us enough: not the overthinking, not the endless preparation, not even the attempts to predict every possible outcome.
The discomfort always stays, and takes up space in our minds.
And before we know it, we have spent more energy fighting the feeling than facing the thing in front of us.
A huge part of our cognitive power gets wasted trying to feel comfortable first, as though comfort is the requirement for action. what if it isn’t?
What if discomfort was never to be eliminated, but something to become familiar with it?
To be honest, life rarely waits for us to feel ready.
An interview comes, an opportunity shows up or a challenge arrives and more often than not, we feel unsettled.
Instead of trying to calm every storm inside us, let’s try to work through the nerves.
Comfort is fleeting, but real growth begins in its absence.
If there’s one philosophy I've learned and seen proven over and over, it’s that champions are comfortable being uncomfortable.
